The secret to obtaining the best possible print results for all our wide format products will obviously be the quality of the artwork you provide – no secrets there! Even the most exquisite artwork can give less than favourable results or even worse – unprintable design elements - if the artwork has not been prepared correctly for CMYK ink-jet print.

The following covers the basics with regards to most types of issues connected with digital print design preparation.

Acceptable Formats:

Adobe
Photoshop
(.PSD)

Adobe
Illustrator
(.AI/.EPS)

Adobe
InDesign
(.INDD)

Adobe
PDF
(.PDF)

JPEG
(600dpi)
(.JPG)

Produce a single page document without compression and in the case of Adobe Illustrator files, supply logos as linked files together with fonts.

Careful consideration should also be given to the following requirements:

  1. Convert all RGB colours to CMYK
  2. Create artwork at 25% of actual size
  3. All layers should be flattened
  4. All transparencies to be flattened
  5. All fonts need to be converted to ‘outlines’
  6. Bitmap images and scans to converted to CMYK and placed in document
  7. Vector images are always preferable as they are not resolution dependant
  8. Pop-Up Stand Panels – Where possible, keep design elements away from panel split lines (especially text) – do not include panel lines in supplied artwork.
  9. Ensure all design elements are scalable

To complete the artwork design process, please do not include the following:

crossBleed
crossCrop marks or any other type of printer’s marks
crossColour palettes

As CMYK does not provide a complete full colour gamut, any colours which are required to match exactly will need to be supplied as a Pantone reference. When supplying the finished artwork at ¼ (25%) size, scans and bitmaps will need to be saved at no less than 300dpi so they can ultimately be printed at no less than 72dpi (this will avoid image pixilation).

Without these considerations, we cannot guarantee the best results that our print technology can produce, please feel free to consult our Sales Team for more advice.

Important: Please note that we use the following Adobe & CorelDraw colour profile settings:

  • RGB Profile : Adobe RGB (1998)
  • CMYK Profile : Euroscale Coated V2
